VIAmass™

VIAmass™ is a sublingual formulation of Parathyroid Hormone 1-34 (PTH1-34), a treatment for osteoporosis. PTH1-34 stimulates new bone formation. PTH1-34 is normally released by the body in a spike-like fashion and the rapid release profile is particularly important so that the bone forming cells do not become desensitized from constant over-stimulation. If PTH1-34 is released at a constant level over time, over-stimulation occurs and the bone forming cells become inactive, leading to bone loss. Rapid uptake of PTH1-34 by the body is necessary to produce the desired clinical outcome. The VIAmass™ formulation has undergone pre-clinical studies and further trials may show that VIAmass™ provides the necessary rapid-spike to grow new bone cells in a convenient oral form of PTH1-34.
