Overview

The VIAdel™ technology allows for a more effective delivery of endocrine therapeutics and therefore is applicable to a wide range of peptides, proteins and other macromolecules. Biodel has two diabetes therapies under development and two osteoporosis therapies in preclinical studies.

Our clinical studies demonstrate that our product candidates more closely mirror a non-diabetic's insulin spike (first phase insulin release) during meal-time, than currently approved therapies.

• VIAject™, a rapid-acting form of injectable human insulin product
• VIAtab™, a rapid-acting oral human insulin product

VIAdel™ technology is also being applied in preclinical studies to treat osteoporosis, an indication which requires a rapid spike-like delivery of the underlying drug in order to achieve its greatest effectiveness.

• VIAmass™, a sublingual formulation of Parathyroid Hormone 1-34 (PTH1-34), a treatment for osteoporosis.
• VIAcal™, a sublingual formulation of recombinant salmon calcitonin, a treatment for osteoporosis.
