Diabetes is a disease characterized by abnormally high levels of blood glucose and inadequate levels of insulin. Glucose is a simple sugar used by all the cells of the body to produce energy and support life.
Humans need a minimum level of glucose in their blood at all times to function and stay alive. Insulin is a peptide hormone naturally secreted by the pancreas to regulate the body's management of glucose.
When a healthy individual begins a meal, the pancreas releases a natural spike of insulin, called the first-phase insulin release, which is critical to the body's overall control of glucose.
Many patients with diabetes lack the first-phase insulin release and must treat themselves with daily meal-time insulin injections to avoid the negative effects of hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia.

Great opportunity to work as an Accountant in a Biopharmaceutical company located in Danbury, CT, assisting the Controller with all aspects of accounting, including accounts payable and payroll.
The responsibilities are as follows:
1. Payroll (10%):
- Perform all payroll functions and payroll related journal entries.
2. Accounts Payable (45%):
- Match invoices to vouchers, purchase orders, etc.
- Enter invoices in Oracle
- Reconcile related accounts
- Processing of semi-monthly check run
- Review vendor statements and resolve issues
- Maintain vendor files
- Year-end 1099 process
- Monthly closing in A/P
3. Accounting (45%):
- Assist in month end general ledger close: prepare accruals, prepaid amortization, adjustments, etc…
- Reconciliations including bank reconciliations, pre-paid, fixed assets, etc.
- Perform account analysis and reconciliations.
Requirements:
- Recent or upcoming college graduate (0-2 years experience)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel
- Must be detail oriented, bright and energetic!

Job Summary
Study and characterize the interactions of peptide hormones with small molecules.
Essential Duties
- Design, plan, and perform the R&D tasks according to objectives; interpret, summarize, and present scientific/technical results with a proposed next-step action.
- Write product development reports (pre-formulation, formulation, process).
- Participate in the preparation of other technical documents, including master formula, manufacturing procedures, stability protocols, SOPs, and product CMC file.
- Author/co-author a scientific/technical presentation or publication externally (poster/podium at the conference, peer-reviewed journal manuscript, patent application, etc.)
- Promote and maintain open communication and free exchange of information within the company, and with external collaborators and suppliers, while at all times respecting the confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Carry out other scientific/technical duties assigned by Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong abilities in study design, data analysis, and problem-solving are needed.
- Hands-on bench work experience and ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
- Good interpersonal and team-work skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.
Education and Experience
- PhD pharmaceutics or industrial pharmacy, polymer or material sciences & engineering, physical chemistry, chemical engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience with HPLC, UPLC, size exclusion chromatography, circular dichroism Raman shift spectroscopy, U-V vis.
